The Purchase Ledger Clerk - a road to nowhere or the underrated workhorse of the accountancy world? You decide.
Recruiting for a quality ledger clerk is no mean feat - Most candidates don’t want the job. Let’s face facts, it’s rarely the most riveting of vocations. Code, check and process, code, check and process. Maybe some reconciliations if you’re lucky. Maybe some VAT calculations if you’re really lucky, and half decent. At least that’s how many of our client specifications read.
From a technical point of view, it’s not an easy job to sugar coat in a recruitment advertisement. So, what makes this different?
We’re looking for somebody with oodles of experience, but more importantly, we’re looking for somebody that can actually direct the purchase ledger show. The recruiter is a major employer in the Southwest and they understand just how important the job is, that’s why they’ll pay somebody £25K to do it. There’s much less humdrum involved in their role and you’ll also be developing and supervising other staff within your own, highly appreciated department.
That’s what makes this opportunity the diamond in the rough. The employer is a Westcountry services business with a difference. They’re very good at what they do and their business is growing. People like their products and that includes their staff. Their employees also like the company that employs them. They like the friendly, supportive management team, the easy going day-to-day colleagues, the clean offices, the modern IT systems and most of all, the fact that people don’t feel that they’re either doing, or are stuck in, a dead-end job.
Obviously, you’ll need a decent level of experience to do the job. An aptitude to supervise a team would be great, experience not necessarily essential. We’d like it if you were AAT qualified, but you won’t be dismissed if you’re not. Elle Benjamin at Trial Balance Consulting can fill in the blanks here. Just mention reference EB4261 and if you’re ready to apply, send a CV stating that you have the experience and are an agreeable human being to run the show.
