Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively retained to assist a recently launched FMCG manufacturer in the recruitment of a key role within their structure; an experienced Site/Cost Accountant. This is a high net worth investor owned business with exciting plans for rapid expansion and product development. 

Launched in early 2020 and operating from state-of-the-art Plympton based premises, the business currently employs a team of twelve, but has viable plans to increase head count by an additional ninety staff over the next twelve months (many recruitment projects already in late stages). The business produces a range of unique and highly sought-after food products which can only be manufactured by utilising cutting edge technology. Their product catalogue is likely to expand into other popular markets over the course of the next year. 

The Cost Accountant is the first in a number of anticipated accountancy recruitment projects and will initially head up the finance function, making this a position of pivotal importance to the success of the company. Reporting into an established senior management team consisting of UK and European based owners, the Site Director and the site Operations Manager, it’s a role that will be well supported but also allow a huge degree of autonomy in setting up accounting and costing procedures, accounting software implementation, and potentially the ongoing recruitment of a finance team. It’s a role that will develop and likely migrate very quickly as the function develops. 

What we’re looking for: Our client has taken a well-considered attitude by resisting pigeonholing where candidate specification is concerned. We are open to receiving applications from both professionally qualified individuals (CIMA/ACCA/ACA), as well as those that would consider themselves QBE. We do require a candidate with a manufacturing/FMCG background and with a strong understanding of the importance of product costings. This is a role that works across all areas of the business and it is crucial that the successful candidate can lead and educate production staff in the importance of maintaining market competitive costings. As well as strong technical exposure in this area, our client is particularly interested in recruiting a candidate with drive, ambition and a strong desire to take ownership of this function. The company is driven by a passionate team with big plans!
