Finance Assistant - Liskeard - salary negotiable DOE

Trial Balance are delighted to be working exclusively with a successful and well-established construction business, who are looking to recruit an experienced Finance Assistant to join their busy and friendly finance team.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing business where you’ll play an important role in supporting both the day-to-day accounts and payroll functions. Working closely with the Finance Director, you’ll be part of a hands-on team responsible for keeping financial records accurate, ensuring suppliers and employees are paid on time, and helping the wider business run smoothly.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions

- Reconciling bank accounts and supplier statements

- Processing supplier invoices, employee expenses and payments

- Assisting with CIS subcontractor invoices, deductions and HMRC verification

- Supporting VAT returns and month-end and year-end accounts processes

- Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll for office and site-based staff using Sage

- Liaising with HMRC, pension providers, suppliers and subcontractors

- Working closely with the Finance Director to maintain accurate records and effective financial controls

We’re keen to hear from candidates with previous experience in an accounts and/or payroll role, whether qualified by experience or supported by relevant qualifications. You’ll be comfortable using Sage and Microsoft Excel, with a good eye for detail and the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy environment.

Experience gained within the construction sector would be a real advantage, particularly if you have an understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
