Senior Accountant - Helston - £40,000 - £50,000

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant looking to take on a broad and influential role within a growing and successful accountancy practice.

Trial Balance is pleased to be working with an established and expanding firm in Helston that is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join its close-knit team. This position offers far more than accounts preparation, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to manage client relationships, support junior team members and play an active role in the on-going success of the practice.

The role of Senior Accountant will involve:

- Managing a varied portfolio of clients and serving as their primary point of contact for accounting and taxation matters

- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies

- Preparing corporation tax, personal tax and VAT returns

- Producing management accounts and providing clients with wider financial support and advice

- Assisting with the on-boarding of new clients and ensuring a smooth transition into the practice

- Leading client review meetings and identifying opportunities to add further value

- Reviewing work completed by junior colleagues and providing coaching and support where required

- Helping to manage workflow, deadlines and the efficient running of the practice

- Supporting the Directors with operational initiatives and ad hoc projects

About you

The successful Senior Accountant will hold an ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification and have a strong background gained within an accountancy practice environment.

You'll possess excellent technical knowledge across accounts preparation, tax compliance and VAT, alongside the confidence to manage a client portfolio with minimal supervision. Previous experience mentoring, supervising or reviewing the work of junior team members would be highly advantageous.

As a Senior Accountant, you'll be commercially minded, highly organised and capable of balancing multiple deadlines whilst delivering an exceptional service to clients. Strong communication skills and familiarity with modern accounting software will also be essential.
