Finance Assistant - Full Time - Permanent - Bodmin

I’m currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant on behalf of a well-established and growing business based in Bodmin. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and collaborative finance team in a varied, hands-on role covering multiple areas of transactional accounting, reconciliations and month-end activity.

This position will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their workload, working across several systems, and getting involved in the detail behind discrepancies, reconciliations and financial controls. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function while gaining exposure to wider accounting processes including journals, stock accounting and management-accounts preparation.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Purchase ledger ownership - processing supplier invoices, coding, PO matching and preparing payment runs

* Sales ledger management - raising invoices, allocating receipts and maintaining accurate customer accounts

* Credit control - monitoring aged debt, sending reminders and resolving customer queries

* Bank and platform reconciliations - reconciling bank accounts, Shopify, PayPal and other payment providers

* Expense and card administration - managing Soldo, credit-card reconciliations and VAT documentation

* Month-end processes - journals, accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet control-account reconciliations

* Stock accounting - preparing journals for samples, events, write-offs, internal use and FOC stock

* VAT support - ensuring correct VAT coding and valid supporting documentation

* General finance support - schedules for management accounts, audit preparation and ad hoc reporting

We’re keen to speak with Finance Assistants, Accounts Assistants, Assistant Accountants or Bookkeepers with previous experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and credit control. Experience using Xero, Shopify, PayPal or expense-management platforms would be highly beneficial, alongside strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
