Finance Manager - Near Exeter - Circa £45,000

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively engaged by a long-standing, family-owned manufacturing business to recruit their new Finance Manager. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a stable organisation of around 35 employees, operating across several successful enterprises and now entering an exciting phase of structural change and future growth.

This is a full-time, on-site position based near Exeter, working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team. You’ll be supported by a motivated Finance Apprentice, with a longer-term plan to further expand the finance function as the business continues to evolve.

This is a broad and hands-on role where the successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day finance operations while also contributing to ongoing improvements and upcoming structural projects. 

Key responsibilities will include

-Production of accurate monthly management accounts with meaningful commentary

-Preparation of statutory information and HMRC submissions (including VAT)

-Ownership of the general ledger and ensuring accuracy across multiple business entities

-Budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow monitoring

-Overseeing supplier payments and monitoring aged debt

-Development of KPIs and financial reporting packs for management

-Supporting and mentoring the Finance Apprentice

-Contributing to planned structural and operational changes within the organisation

-Working with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes and controls

Our client is open-minded on qualification level. Whether you are fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), part-qualified, or suitably qualified by experience, what matters most is a solid grounding in finance operations, strong commercial awareness, and a confident, proactive approach. Study support can be provided where relevant.
