Business Manager - Newton Abbot/remote - Circa: £35,000
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively re-engaged by our long-standing client, a young, ambitious, highly successful and very rapidly expanding specialist technology services provider. The business has a demonstrable history of growth, and with ambitious plans to grow head count many times over during the next few years, the company seeks to recruit an experienced Business Manager who will take a lead in developing the back-office function, principally finance, human resources, payroll and legal focussed. This is a brand-new role and for the right candidate, represents an exciting opportunity to develop bespoke systems and policy.
The role will be based 100% remotely but with an occasional need to attend less than half a dozen meetings at the company’s HQ in Newton Abbot. It is essential that the post holder lives within a reasonable distance of the town.
This is a broad role with a wide breadth of responsibility and so whilst focussed technical experience in each area of the function won’t be a pre-requisite, a wider understanding of the key areas will be essential. The successful candidate will likely develop their own role as time passes, but a blue print of key responsibilities might include:
- Managing day-to-day accounting and the internal financial lifecycle of the business using Xero software
- Producing management accounts and financial forecasts
- Developing and maintaining budget controls
- Managing the HR function and playing a lead role in recruitment/onboarding
- Liaising with Chartered Accountants and other professional advisors
- Process improvement and policy implementation
- Overseeing general business operations
For this role we’re seeking an experienced accountant, either part/fully CCAB professionally qualified or QBE and with a good understanding of cloud-based accounting platforms, general bookkeeping and MS Office products. The business prides itself on it’s up to date approach to technology and generally runs “paperless”, with use of SAAS tools throughout. The role spans all areas of the business and the Business Manager will be a very well-known colleague to all members of staff, so exceptional communication skills and a highly organised, accurate approach to work will be essential, as a will a “can do”/ “let’s fix this” attitude.
