Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant - Exeter - £30,000 - £35,000 FTE - Part time - 21 hrs per week – Permanent

If you're an experienced finance professional looking for a part time role where you can genuinely hit the ground running, this could be a great fit. I'm working with a growing organisation based in Exeter that is investing in its finance function and looking for a capable Assistant Accountant to take ownership of the day to day transactional finance operation.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, you'll be responsible for keeping the finance function running smoothly, including:

- Purchase ledger and sales ledger management, ensuring accurate and up to date records across both.

- Credit control and management of supplier and customer queries in a timely and professional manner.

- Bank reconciliations and preparation of payment runs to support effective cash management.

- Payroll preparation and finance administration, maintaining data accuracy across all accounting records.

- Supporting year end processes where appropriate, with potential to assist with month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have solid hands on experience in a similar finance role, ideally within an SME environment, and be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Experience is far more important than formal qualifications, and we welcome applications from those who are AAT qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience. Familiarity with Xero, payroll processing or stock and inventory management would be a distinct advantage.

This is a genuinely flexible role, with around 21 hours per week and some flexibility over how those hours are worked for the right person.
