Exclusive to Trial Balance Consulting
Financial Controller - Plymouth - £50-70,000
Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of the vacancies that we’re tasked to fulfil come about as a result of somebody else moving on. That means that systems and procedures are already in place and a new incumbent will, put simply, pick up where their predecessor left off. That works for many people, but if you’re the type that relishes the prospect of a blank canvas where you’ll build your own job description from the ground up, this could be the perfect opportunity.
Trial Balance Consulting have been exclusively assigned by a recently formed and very rapidly expanding manufacturing/FMCG business that are taking the recruitment of their financial-number-one very seriously indeed. The role will initially commence as Financial Controller, reporting into a small group of shareholders and working as part of an experienced senior management team, but features very strong potential for rapid progression to Finance Director. This is a role of pivotal responsibility and has a strong bearing on the continued success of the business.
Launched in early 2020 and operating from state-of-the-art Plympton based premises, the business currently employs a team of fifteen, but has viable plans to increase head count by an additional ninety staff over the next twelve months (many recruitment projects already in late stages). The business produces a range of unique and highly sought-after food products which can only be manufactured by utilising cutting edge technology. Their product catalogue is likely to expand into other popular markets over the course of the next year.
Who’d be the perfect match? A professionally qualified individual (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), with significant technical and strategic accounting exposure operating at a similar level with a manufacturing, FMCG or engineering operation. The successful candidate will begin to assemble their own team almost immediately, but until that point must be able to “roll up their sleeves” and get stuck into the day to day, which could range from transactional procedures to strategic planning and forecasting. This means that a sound understanding of all aspects of the financial lifecycle including product costings is essential, as is a strong aptitude for cloud-based accounting platforms. The shareholder's and existing onsite team are extremely passionate about the company’s product offering, their existing/target customer base, and the growth of their business and it is important that an incoming member of the senior management team quickly realises the potential of this interesting launch.
