Assistant Accountant (Finance, Payroll & HR) - Plymouth - £27-35,000

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively reengaged by our long-standing client, a highly successful technical construction focussed business that have experience phenomenal growth over recent years. Continued expansion and the development of existing team members has created this brand-new opportunity, the title of which has yet to be confirmed! Why? Because the successful candidate will play a key role in three areas of the business; Finance, Payroll and Human Resources administration. 

Reporting to a highly experienced Finance Director and working amongst a passionate, energetic team, the successful candidate will play a key role in the following areas: 

Finance - Management of the accounts receivable function, debtor management, bank reconciliations, maintenance of accounting systems and assisting the Finance Director with ad-hoc projects

Payroll - Management of weekly and monthly payroll (approx. 65 employees on each), PAYE reporting, administration of P11d’s, P45’s, P60’s, recording private mileage and expense claims, and satisfying all HMRC procedures

Human Resources - Assist the HR Director in the implementation of a new people management system, continued administration of HR documentation, contracts, sickness and holiday records and personal health questionnaires

So, what type of a candidate are we looking for? Our client recognises that recruiting an individual with experience in all three areas would be unlikely and they’re keeping an open mind! Broad and recently gained experience in modern payroll processing is essential and well-rounded finance exposure would be a distinct advantage. Part/fully AAT qualified or those that consider themselves to be qualified by experience are most welcome to apply. The Human Resources element of the role is more administration focussed and will call for an articulate, organised individual with efficient documentation skills.
