Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant - Truro - £24-28,000

Trial Balance Consulting have been reengaged by a long-standing client, a prominent services business and respected local employer. The company urgency seeks to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their small but highly efficient finance function. The role is offered as a full time, permanent contract and the successful candidate will be based from the company’s headquarters on the Truro outskirts. 

This is a broad role where were the successful candidate will assume a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities, including deputising to the Finance Director and covering absences. Key duties to include: 

- Work closely with Finance Director on all day to day accounting and bookkeeping matters

- Lead the accounts payable and receivable function

- Daily bank reconciliations

- Month end procedures and management reporting 

- Balance sheet reconciliations

- Preparation of VAT reports

- Accruals and prepayments

- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts

- Assist other finance staff

For this role we seek an experienced Assistant Accountant or an Accounts Assistant looking to take a step up. Candidates will ideally be fully AAT or part professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), but we are happy to consider candidates with significant vocational experience (QBE). Strong IT skills, particularly using MS Excel essential, as will be the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
