Our client is a design engineering business with a range of entirely unique and completely innovative products that are taking the industrial sector by storm – with a global capacity. They’ve pioneered a product that has been proven to not only save significant money, but also dramatically improve their customers environmental credentials. From design, manufacture, implementation and development, the business is made up by a team at the cutting edge, and they’re now looking for an exceptional Financial Controller to head up the financial controls for their UK and European divisions. 

This is no ordinary FC opportunity and the successful candidate will benefit from a high degree of autonomy to develop and improve systems and procedures. Working from the company’s central Bristol offices the role is well supported by an experienced senior management team, as well as a US based CFO and board team. The finance function in the UK is small, but poised for growth and it is likely that the incoming FC will want to innovate the function through team recruitment.

This is a highly technical accounting role that would be well suited to a candidate who possesses a solid understanding of working to IFRS standards and regular financial reporting. The role would be particularly well suited to a candidate who has qualified within a large practice and understands corporate accounting and statutory reporting. However, the breadth of scope and specialism of this opportunity go well beyond financial accounting and a candidate with genuine commercial acumen will enjoy collating regular management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, financial modelling and analysis. As such, we’re looking for a highly competent Financial Controller who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and really get into the day-to-day as well as overall finance strategy. 

What we’re looking for: A qualified individual (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), ideally with experienced gained in corporate finance within practice. If not, then certainly experience of working at a similar level with large business (possibly listed). A solid understanding of reporting to IFRS standards is essential as will be strong knowledge of statutory accounting and management reporting. Team fit is incredibly important and the UK based team are a highly professional, extremely friendly and close-knit group. It is paramount that the incoming Financial Controller possesses the interpersonal skills to work closely with and to lead and influence both internal and external stakeholders, and colleagues across all departments of the business.
