Trial Balance Consulting have been assigned by a prominent and long-standing Exeter based employer, a bespoke manufacturer whose products appear on the shelves of retailers globally. They’ve experienced year on year growth and appear to be unscathed by the pandemic, hence their continued growth plans remain on a promising trajectory. 

They’ve invited us to assist them in sourcing an experienced Financial Controller who will act as FD Designate with a view to fast track progression. This is a pivotal position within the business which supports a team of 3-5 experienced finance staff and initially reports to the company’s Finance Director. It is likely that due to continued company growth and change, the FC will quickly develop to FD and become the principle point of contact for accounting & finance. 

Whilst the successful candidate will maintain proven finance systems and procedures, there is a large degree of autonomy and we seek a candidate who will be able to design, implement and develop new finance protocols and controls. The FC, whilst liaising regularly as part of a senior management team, will also hold strong relationships with other department leaders, ensuring that they can influence them on the importance of solid accounting practices and working in collaboration to develop improvements. This is a highly varied role which will include the production of management and statutory accounting, business analysis, budgeting and forecasting and treasury planning. 

The role will be well suited to a proven, qualified Financial Controller (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), ideally with a background in manufacturing or retail. Strong IT skills, commercial awareness and experience in managing a team are essential. We’re looking for a highly motivated problem solver with strong commercial awareness and an ability to see projects through from inception to implementation.
